Remindly — Privacy Policy

Penguin (“Penguin”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting it. This Privacy Policy explains how Remindly (the “App”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use our services.

1) Information We Collect

iCloud Account Association. The App uses Apple’s iCloud and CloudKit to store and sync your reminders with your iCloud account. We do not collect or store your Apple ID, email address, or a separate user identifier. All account information is managed by Apple.
Reminder Content. The reminders you create (titles, notes, schedules) are stored locally on your device and automatically synced to your iCloud account through CloudKit.
Device & App Interactions. We may collect limited technical information necessary to operate the App (e.g., app version, device type, OS version) and to deliver notifications. This information is not linked to your reminders or iCloud account.
No Third-Party Analytics. We do not use third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking tools within the App.

2) How We Use Information

Provide, maintain, and improve the App and its features (including notifications).
Administer subscriptions, eligibility for limited free trials, and access to paid features.
Monitor reliability, debug, and enhance user experience through analytics.
Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Use.

3) Data Storage & Security

Local Storage. If you do not use iCloud, your reminders remain stored only on your device.
iCloud Storage. The Service automatically uses Apple’s iCloud and CloudKit to store and sync your reminders with your iCloud account. This functionality cannot be disabled. Data stored in iCloud is subject to Apple’s privacy and security policies.
Safeguards. We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

4) Subscriptions & Payments

Subscriptions (including access to increased reminder limits) are processed via the Apple App Store.
We do not collect or store your payment card details; billing is handled by Apple.
A limited free trial may be available. Charges begin unless you cancel before the trial ends.

5) Sharing of Information

Service Providers. The Service relies on Apple’s iCloud and CloudKit to store and sync your reminders. Your data is processed and stored by Apple in accordance with their privacy and security policies. We do not share your data with other third-party providers.
Legal. We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or to protect rights, property, or safety.
No Sale of Personal Data. We do not sell your personal information.

6) Your Choices & Controls

Use Without iCloud. If you disable iCloud for the App in your device settings, your reminders will remain stored only on your device.
Automatic Sync. By default, the App uses Apple’s iCloud and CloudKit to sync your reminders with your iCloud account. This functionality cannot be disabled from within the App.
Access & Deletion. You may delete reminders directly within the App at any time. iCloud data is managed through your Apple ID and iCloud settings; we do not provide account deletion or direct access to iCloud-stored data. Deleting reminders locally will also remove them from iCloud during sync. The App also includes an option to delete all local data.
Notifications. You may modify notification permissions in your device settings.

7) Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as necessary to provide the App, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. You may delete your cloud-stored reminders as noted above.

8) Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Your continued use of the App after changes become effective signifies acceptance.
